SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) is scheduled to shut its 515,000 tonne/year mixed-feed I-4 No 1 cracker at Map Ta Phut next week for repairs, a company official said on Wednesday.

“The cracker will be shut on 19 November and it will be restarted on 13 December,” the official said, citing some mechanical issues at the unit that prevent it from running at full capacity.

The cracker is being operated at a reduced rate of 70% since 29 October, down from 85% previously.

PTTGC’s other cracker at the site – a 400,000 tonne/year I-4 No 2 ethane cracker – is currently operating at 80-85% of capacity from 95-100% early this month, the company official said.

The I-4 No 2 ethane cracker will maintain an 80-85% run rate during the shutdown of the I-4 No 1 mixed-feed cracker, the official said.
