SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan is operating its 40,000 tonne/year methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) plant in Tokuyama at about 70% capacity after the facility completed a two-month turnaround on 9 or 10 November, a source close to the company said on Friday.
The producer is expected to lift its four-month export suspension in December, the source said.
Asian demand for MEK, however, is seeing a slowdown in line with a drop in downstream production activity towards the end of the year, traders said.
