SINGAPORE (ICIS)--DKSH has acquired Swiss specialty chemicals distributor Staerkle & Nagler for an undisclosed sum as part of a targeted expansion strategy, it said on Wednesday.

“This acquisition strengthens our position as a pan-European distributor and is helping us, parallel to our market leadership position in Asia, to strategically extend our network in Europe,” said Mario Preissler, head of the firm’s performance materials unit.

“The Staerkle & Nagler product portfolio optimally suits our existing business operations, while simultaneously expands our network with first-rate suppliers,” he added.

Staerkle & Nagler distributes food additives and raw materials for the chemical industry. Its 2011 net sales were Swiss francs (Swfr) 20.2m ($21.5m).

Zurich-headquartered DKSH describes itself as a market expansion services provider, which helps other companies and brands to grow their business in new or existing markets. Its 2011 net sales were Swfr 7.3bn.
