China November vehicle sales up 8.2% year on year to 1.79m units

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s vehicles sales in November reached 1.79m units, up by 8.2% year on year and 11.5% month on month, official industry data showed on Monday.

November’s vehicles production increased by 3.9% on year and 11.0% on month to 1.76m units, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

Passenger car sales in November jumped to 1.46m units, 8.8% more than one year ago, and production increased by 4.2% on year to 1.43m units.

In January-November, China’s total vehicles sales and production both reached 17.5m units, up by 4.0% and 4.5%, respectively, year on year.

For passenger cars, sales in the first 11 months rose by 7.1% on year to 14m units, while production in the same period increased 7.3% on year to 14.1m units, according to the CAAM.

The association expects both vehicles sales and production to exceed 19m units this year.

Car production and sales data is an indicator of base oil demand and plastic consumption in the manufacture of automotive parts.
