MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Kingboard Chemical plans to shut its phenol/acetone plant at Huizhou city in the southern Guangdong province for maintenance in the second half of December, a company source said on Wednesday.

The plant, which has a capacity of 120,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, will be taken off line for 15-30 days to undergo maintenance, the source said.

The phenol/acetone plant is currently running at 80-90% capacity, according to the company source.

Its downstream 25,000 tonne/year bisphenol-A (BPA) unit at the same site, which is running at 100% capacity, will be shut for overhaul over the same period, the source added.

Kingboard operates a second phenol/acetone plant at Yangzhou in Jiangsu province.
