HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) exports for October rose sharply from the same month a year ago, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday. ?xml:namespace>
Exports increased to 5,155 tonnes from 2,514 tonnes in October 2011.
The lone destination for US BD exports was Mexico.
Year to date, exports have totalled 55,094 tonnes through October, an increase of 8.2% for the same period in 2011.
October imports totaled 48,852 tonnes, up by 15% in year on year.
Iraq, Kuwait and Venezuela were the top three ports of origin for BD material shipped to the US in October.
For the year to date, 496,038 tonnes have been imported, a decrease of 22% year on year.
US producers of BD include ExxonMobil, INEOS Olefins & Polymer, LyondellBasell, Sabina Petrochemicals, Shell Chemical and TPC Group.
