HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid exports in October jumped 42% year on year on greater shipments to Belgium and Mexico, according to data released on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US acetic acid exports totalled 97,102 tonnes in October, compared with 68,428 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Shipments to Belgium - the largest export destination - totalled 47,625 tonnes, more than doubling 21,651 tonnes sent there in the same month last year.
The second largest destination - Mexico - took 27,927 tonnes, compared with 16,903 tonnes in October 2011.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
