HOUSTON (ICIS)--The contract price of benchmark US Tampa ammonia for all January shipments decreased by 1.8% from December, a source close to the negotiations said on Wednesday.
The settlement between Yara and its customers brings the contract to $673/tonne (€505/tonne) CFR (cost and freight), down by $12/tonne from the $685/tonne December price.
The decrease for December is reflective of improved global supplies for ammonia, and reduced seasonal demand in the US.
The ammonia distribution system in the US is depleted following the autumn application season.
Ammonia producers and dealers are expected to refill the system beginning in January.
