SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Haili Chemical Industry is running its second new 150,000 tonne/year adipic acid (ADA) plant in Jiangsu province at around 100% of capacity after its start-up in early January, a company source said on Wednesday.
“The second new plant is running at full capacity presently since it started up in early January,” the source said, but declined to disclose the exact date of the start-up.
The plant, which is the company’s second ADA unit, is located in eastern Jiangsu province.
The company’s first 150,000 tonne/year ADA plant at the same site is also running at full capacity, which started up in last September, according to the source.
At Zibo in Shandong province, the company has three existing ADA lines with a combined capacity of 225,000 tonnes/year. However, only one line is running normally while the other two lines remained shut because of weak demand, according to the source.
ADA is primarily used in the production of nylon 6,6 (or polyamide 6,6), as well as in the manufacturing of polyurethane (PU), which is used in the soles of shoes and in polyester resins.
