HOUSTON (ICIS)--US nylon imports for November were up by 39% year on year, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.
For the year through November, imports of nylon have totalled 80,094 tonnes, an increase of 21% over the same time frame in 2011, the ITC data showed.
Canada, Germany and Italy were the points of origin of the top three amounts of material imported.
The ITC data showed that the US did not export any nylon material in November, nor in 2012.
The ITC data showed 581,586 tonnes were exported in 2011 through November.
However, last month, the ITC reported year-to-date exports through October 2012 amounted to 505,878 tonnes, a decrease of 5.9% for the same period in 2011.
The ITC groups nylon 6, nylon 11, nylon 12, nylon 6,6, nylon 6,9, nylon 6,10 and nylon 6,12 in its report.
ICIS provides pricing reports for nylon 6 and nylon 6,6.
US producers of nylon include Ascend Performance Materials, BASF Corp, DuPont, EMS-Grivory, Honeywell, INVISTA, NYCOA and Shaw.
