SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s SK Global Chemical (SKGC) plans to shut a reformer and a toluene disproportionation (TDP) unit at its Ulsan-based aromatics complex for a month-long turnaround in May, a company source said on Friday.

The company operates four reformers and two TDP units at the site, the source said. (Please see table below)

The smaller TDI unit will be shut, the source said, but the reformer to be taken off line was not specified.

SKGC is currently running its two TDP units at 80% of capacity, a second company source said.

The company produces about 550,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 1m tonnes/year of toluene and 1.83m tonnes/year of mixed xylenes (MX) in Ulsan.

SKGC also has an aromatics facility in Incheon that it plans to shut in October or November for a month-long turnaround, the first source said.

The Incheon plant can produce about 200,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 100,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 500,000 tonnes/year of MX.
