Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals signs licensing agreement with Kemira

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals said on Tuesday it has signed a licensing agreement with Finland-based water chemistry firm Kemira for acrylamide production technology.

Acrylamide is the raw material for polyacrylamide which is used in wastewater treatment as well as shale gas mining processes, the company said in a statement.

Mitsui Chemicals’ acrylamide production technology uses acrylonitrile (ACN) as a raw material.

Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed in the statement.
