SINGAPORE--Shell started up its largest grease plant, which has a capacity of 30,000 tonnes/year, at Zhuhai in southern China’s Guangdong province on 18 January, a company source said on Wednesday.

The Anglo-Dutch multinational oil and gas producer can also expand the grease plant’s capacity to 40,000 tonnes/year, depending on requirements, the source added.

The grease plant was built to meet China’s growing demand for lubricants, the source said.

Shell started constructing the production facility in December 2010.
