SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) plans to shut one of its two reformers in Map Ta Phut for a month-long scheduled turnaround in April, a company source said on Wednesday.

The affected reformer is part of the No 1 aromatics facility, which can produce 460,000 tonnes/year of benzene; 560,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX); and 66,000 tonnes/year of orthoxylene (OX), the source said.

PTTGC has secured sufficient reformate to continue running the aromatics units during the shutdown of one of the two reformers, the source said.

The company’s No 2 aromatics facility at the site that can produce 616,000 tonnes/year of PX and 360,000 tonnes/year of benzene will skip maintenance this year, he said.
