SINGAPORE (ICIS)--German chemicals major Bayer said on Wednesday that Jorg Reinhardt, the chairman of the board of management of its Bayer HealthCare unit and a member of the company’s executive council, will not renew his contract when it expires in summer 2013.

Reinhardt intends to stand for election as the new director of Swiss healthcare firm Novartis and designated non-executive chairman of the board at its annual general meeting that will take place at the end of February, the company said in a statement.

Reinhardt will end his active service with Bayer effective 28 February this year, it said.

Bayer management board member Wolfgang Plischke will take over the function of chairman at Bayer HealthCare until a successor is appointed, the company added.
