SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s second largest refiner GS Caltex plans to start up its vacuum gas oil (VGO) fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit in Yeosu around 16 March, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.
The bulk of the unit’s propylene output will be exported either on a contractual or spot basis, the source said.
GS Caltex also operates a residual FCC, which can produce around 220,000 tonnes/year of propylene, at the same site.
The bulk of its propylene supply is fed to a derivative 180,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant.
