SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PetroChina has halted Group I base oils supply in Sichuan province, southwest China, since 28 January when the company shut its Nanchong plant in Sichuan, a company source said on Tuesday.
The company shut the 40,000 tonne/year Group I base oils plant in view of feedstock shortage, and it plans to restart the unit after mid-February when the Lunar New Year holiday ends, the source said.
The shutdown is expected to pose limited impact on the base oils market in southwest China as local demand is weak, said major Group I base oils traders in China.
