LONDON (ICIS)--Israel-based producer Carmel Olefins will begin the process of starting up its polyolefins and cracker at its site in Haifa over the weekend of 2-3 February following a planned maintenance shutdown that will have lasted around four weeks, a company source said on Wednesday.

“We plan to be fully operational by 8 February,” said the source.

January has seen higher prices in European polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) markets and now producers are targeting yet more hikes in February, to a reluctant market.

Polymer production in January has been reduced by a series of planned and unplanned outages in Europe and the Middle East.
