TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese trading firm Mitsui & Co has posted a nine-month net loss of yen (Y) 2.86bn ($30.9m) in its chemicals segment, swinging from a net profit of Y10.2bn in the corresponding period a year earlier, the company said on Monday.
This is partly due to underperforming trading activities of fertilizer resources and materials and petrochemical intermediate materials, the company said.
Gross profit for the nine months to 31 December 2012 stood at Y46.2bn, down by 7.8% year on year, while operating profit fell by 91% to Y801m.
Mitsui & Co’s overall net profit during the nine months decreased by 25% to Y253.9bn, while operating profit was down by 37% to Y182.9bn. Revenues decreased by 9.4% to Y3,576.5bn.
