TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s Ube Industries reported on Tuesday a 35% year-on-year decline in its nine-month net profit to yen (Y) 12.6bn ($136m), partly on poor performance in its chemicals and plastics segment.
Operating profit in the nine months to 31 December 2012 fell by 34% to Y23.2bn from the same period a year earlier, while net sales declined by 1.4% to Y464.5bn, the company said in a statement.
In the chemicals and plastics segment, operating profit slumped by 78% year on year to Y4.3bn, while net sales were down by 6.5% to Y162.9bn, the producer said.
