HOUSTON (ICIS)--A 25-year veteran in the government affairs field has been picked to lead US-based ConocoPhillips’ state, federal and international policy and government affairs activities, the company announced on Wednesday.

Andrew Lundquist has been named to ConocoPhillips’ executive leadership team as senior vice president, government affairs. He succeeds Red Cavaney, who retired at the end of 2012.

“Andrew knows our industry, he knows our company and is a proven leader in managing government affairs,” said Ryan Lance, chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips, which is headquartered in Houston, Texas. “His reputation and leadership will reinforce our company’s commitment to strong relations with local and national governments around the world.”

Lundquist received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Alaska and a law degree from Catholic University Columbus School of Law.
