HOUSTON (ICIS)--Bayer MaterialScience will seek an additional 14 cents/lb ($309/tonne, €232/tonne) for its polycarbonate (PC), effective on 11 March, market sources confirmed on Friday.
The increase is because of an escalation in the cost of raw materials used to make PC.
This increase is on the back of the 1 February increase of 15 cents/lb it is seeking.
ICIS has assessed the spot price of general purpose moulding grade PC at $1.53-1.85/lb.
The other PC producers in the US are Styron and SABIC Innovative Plastics.
SABIC sought an increase of 11 cents/lb in January and will follow that with a 14 cent/lb price increase proposal for material shipped on or after 4 March.
Styron sought an increase of 12 cents/lb in January and has not announced a second increase in 2013.
($1 = €0.75)
