HOUSTON (ICIS)--US mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-toluene di-isocyanates (TDI) exports in 2012 rose by more than 9% from 2011, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.
TDI exports in 2012 increased to 148,053 tonnes from 135,615 tonnes in 2011.
TDI exports for December were down by about 10% from the same month a year ago, to 12,952 tonnes in 2012 from 14,435 tonnes in December 2011.
Month on month, exports rose by more than 28% from 10,090 tonnes in November, the ITC said.
The increase from 2011 to 2012 was a result of larger volumes being shipped to Brazil, Canada, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia and Libya.
Top destinations for US TDI in 2012 were Belgium (28,989 tonnes), Brazil (27,075 tonnes), Mexico (21,224 tonnes) and Canada (15,285 tonnes).
US TDI suppliers are Bayer MaterialScience, BASF and Dow Chemical.
