HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) exports in 2012 increased by 9% over 2011 largely because of steady gains in shipments to the top five destination countries, according to data released on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US VAM exports in 2012 totalled 485,221 tonnes, compared with 444,289 tonnes in 2011.
The top five destinations included Belgium, Mexico, Brazil, Canada and Turkey, which increased their take in 2012 by 9% over imports received in 2011. The five countries accounted for 70% of all exports.
Major US VAM sellers include Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
