HOUSTON (ICIS)--A contractor at Valero’s Ardmore refinery in Oklahoma died after being found unconscious at the refinery, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday.
A contractor at the 85,000 bbl/day refinery was reported unconscious late on 18 February. The refinery’s emergency response team arrived immediately on the scene, and the contractor was transported to a local hospital, where he died, Valero’s Bill Day said.
The Ardmore refinery is currently shut down for maintenance work.
“No other contractors or Valero employees were affected, and there were no environmental impacts either inside the plant or in the surrounding community. Refinery operations were not affected,” said Day.
Day said the incident remains under investigation.
The contractor was an employee of Cat-Spec Ltd.
