Israel’s ICL to buy Thermphos’ phosphorus pentasulfide business

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Israel Chemicals Ltd's (ICL) performance products operating segment has agreed to acquire Thermphos’ phosphorus pentasulfide business assets and operations in Knapsack, Germany, the Israeli fertilizer and specialty chemicals company said on Monday.

Phosphorus pentasulfide is a specialty ingredient used in the manufacture of highly technical materials, such as lubrication oil additives, pesticides, mining chemicals and other products.

Financial details were not disclosed.

“This acquisition complements ICL’s global presence in phosphorus-based specialty ingredients,” said Charles Weidhas, president and CEO of ICL Performance Products (ICL-PP).
