Five hurt by blast following chemical leak in southwest China

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Five people were injured by a blast that occurred after a chemical leak at intermediates producer Best Chemical’s facility in Guiyang of Guizhou province, southwest China, a report from the local government website said on Tuesday.

The blast occurred at 22:00 local time on 25 February, according to the report. The company did not disclose what the chemical material is, the report added.

More than 20,000 people were evacuated to a neighboring region around 1.5km away after the blast and an investigation is under way.
