SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Nan Ya Plastics earlier this week started commercial production at its new maleic anhydride (MA) plant in Mailiao which has a nameplate capacity of 60,000 tonnes/year, a company source said on Wednesday.
The new MA plant is currently operating at 70-80% of capacity and is using butane as its feedstock, the source said.
The company has started offering its molten material to the Taiwan domestic and export markets, the source said.
Nan Ya Plastics is trying to offer material at current market prices, the source added.
ICIS tracks briquette-type MA prices on a CFR SE Asia basis and the last reported prices were at $1,900-1,950/tonne (€1,463-1,502/tonne) CFR SE Asia for the week ended 22 February.
