SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shanghai Golden Phillips Petrochemical restarted its 135,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Shanghai on 3 March, a company source said on Monday.

This plant was shut on 18 February on the back of high cost of feedstock ethylene, the source added.

This plant produced HDPE film before the shutdown, which had little impact on the market, according to market players.

The price of HDPE film was assessed at yuan (CNY) 11,450-11,550/tonne ($1,840-1,870/tonne) on 1 March, down by CNY200-250/tonne from CNY11,650-11,800 /tonne on 18 February, according to Chemease, an ICIS service based in China.
