LONDON (ICIS)--Oxea’s production site in Oberhausen will undergo a turnaround lasting around four weeks from 24 May, the Germany-based oxo chemicals major said on Tuesday.

In accordance with standards for mandatory routine inspections every five years, a turnaround of the main Oberhausen units is required, the company said.

The inspection will allow a co-ordinated maintenance schedule for the entire Oxea production site.

“Oxea has taken all measures to ensure that contractual delivery obligations are being met during the turnaround at Oberhausen," said Miguel Mantas, executive board member for marketing and sales.

“We are building inventories in order to continue to meet our supply obligations throughout the turnaround period,” he added.

Oxea is a global manufacturer of oxo intermediates and oxo derivatives such as alcohols, polyols, carboxylic acids, specialty esters and amines.

These products are used among others for the production of high-quality coatings, lubricants, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, flavourings and fragrances, printing inks and plastics.

In 2012, Oxea generated revenues of €1.5bn ($1.9bn) with its 1,406 employees in Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Oxea has a butanol capacity of 130,000 tonnes/year, an isobutanol (IBA) capacity of 10,000 tonnes/year and 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year at Oberhausen, according to ICIS Plants and Projects.
