LONDON (ICIS news)--Styrolution, one of the four major suppliers of polystyrene (PS) in Europe, has been forced to close down production at its 180,000 tonne per/year plant in Wingles, France, because of harsh winter weather in northern France on the night of Tuesday 12 March, a company source said on Thursday.
The source did not disclose the full technical nature of the problem but said that the temporary shutdown of production was due to the weather.
Nobody was hurt in the incident and there were no environmental issues stemming from it, the source added.
Output from the plant is expected to remain down for at least one more week. Interruption to production has meant that Styrolution cannot accept any new orders for delivery from Wingles for the time being.
The company will make an announcement to customers as soon as production is resumed, said the source.
