SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhongyan Kunshan plans to shut its 450,000 tonne/year soda ash unit at Kunshan city in Jiangsu province, on 20 March for a three-day scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday. The maintenance will result in a soda ash output loss in March of 3,500-4,000 tonnes to 32000-32500 tonnes compared with the output in February, according to the source.
The latest prices of light grade soda ash offered by the producer were at CNY1250/tonne ($201/tonne) EXW on 19 March, added the source.
Local prices of soda ash are not expected to rise, because Zhongyan Kunshan has about 4,000 tonne inventory to sell during the shutdown, a local market player said.
