LONDON (ICIS)--BASF executive board member Margret Suckale has been nominated to head Germany’s chemical employers trade group BAVC as president, German media reported on Friday.

Suckale would take over in June, subject to approval by BAVC members, German business daily Handelsblatt and a local paper at BASF’s base in Ludwigshafen, Germany, reported.

She would be the first woman to lead BAVC. The group is currently led by Eggert Voscherau, BASF's supervisory board chairman.

Suckale joined BASF in 2009 as the executive board member responsible for human resources. She is also BASF's industrial relations director and site director of Ludwigshafen, among other responsibilities.

A spokesperson for Wiesbaden-based BAVC was not immediately available for additional comment. The group represents Germany’s chemical firms in wage negotiations and social policy issues.
