Argentina’s Feb chemical production up by 4.5% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s February chemical production was up by 4.5% year on year compared with the same month of 2012, industry sources said on Friday.

Production of basic chemical products was down by 5.2% in February 2013 compared with the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was down by 7.8% in February year on year, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was down by 1.5% in February compared with the same month of 2012.

Agrochemicals production increased by 8.0% in February 2013, while production of pharmaceutical products increased by 15.6% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products declined in February by 6.7% compared with the same month of 2012.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyre production combined to decrease by 8.4% in February year on year.

Rubber tyre production was up by 1.7%, while February production of plastic products declined by 10.0% year on year, INDEC said.
