HOUSTON (ICIS)--Initial US March styrene contracts are expected to settle flat to lower this week, following the recent drop in feedstock benzene prices, according to market sources on Tuesday.
Trade participants had said a week earlier that the recent drop in benzene prices was pressuring the market. March benzene contract fell by 11 cents/gal ($33/tonne, €26/tonne).
No styrene producers have issued any price increases for March contracts.
February styrene contracts were settled at 81.75-85.75 cents/lb ($1,802-1,890/tonne) FOB (free on board), flat from the previous month.
