SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) is currently building a 100,000 tonne/year plant that will produce butadiene (BD) and butene-1 by the end of the year, the company’s top executive told ICIS on Friday.
“[The unit] is under construction. We will complete the C4 upgrading to butadiene and butene-1 by the end of this year,” PTTGC CEO Anon Sirisaengtaksin said.
The plant will be able to produce 75,000 tonnes/year of BD and 25,000 tonnes/year of butene-1, with commercial operations expected in the first quarter of 2014, a PTT spokesperson said.
