MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS)--The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said on Friday that 77.6m gallons (294m litres) of biodiesel was produced in February.
Biodiesel production has exceeded targets under the renewable fuel standard (RFS) for two consecutive years.
It is reported under the biomass-based diesel category under the RFS.
The numbers show a total of almost 80.5m gallons of biomass-based diesel for February, but that total also includes renewable diesel production, according to the EPA data.
With the February numbers, year-to-date biodiesel production stands at just under 150m gallons.
Biodiesel is an alternative fuel, produced from renewable resources. The most commonly used feedstocks are rapeseed, soy and palm oil.
