SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals announced on Monday that it started operations of a polypropylene (PP) catalyst plant at the Lotte Mitsui Chemicals site in Yeosu, South Korea on 1 April.

The plant is part of a joint venture with Lotte Chemical, the company said in a statement.

Lotte Mitsui Chemicals said it utilises cutting edge catalyst manufacturing technology developed by Mitsui Chemicals to produce PP at the Lotte Chemical owned petrochemical works in Yeosu.

PP is widely used in applications such as automobiles and home appliances.
