LONDON (ICIS)--Czech petrochemical producer and refiner Unipetrol has elected Marek Switajewski as its new CEO and chairman of the board of directors, the company said on Monday.
Switajewski replaces the company CEO since 2009 Piotr Chelminski, who resigned from the position, it added.
One of the first tasks of Switajewski will be handling the launch of Unipetrol's next five-year strategy – the document, which has been delayed for more than a year, should be released within the first half of this year, the company has said.
Having joined the Unipetrol group in 2010, Switajewski became an executive of petrochemical production subsidiary Unipetrol RPA.
In 2011, he became board chairman and CEO of Ceska rafinerska, a refiner that is part-owned by Unipetrol, while from June of last year he has been the Unipetrol board director responsible for the group's refinery segment.
Unipetrol is 63%-owned by Poland's state controlled oil and petrochemicals group PKN Orlen.
