SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jingbo Petrochemical is producing bitumen for the first time since 9 April at its 2.3m tonne/year crude distillation unit (CDU) at Binzhou in Shandong province, a company source said on Wednesday.
The CDU was mainly used to produce slurries previously, the source said, adding that on-spec bitumen product is expected to be achieved on 12 April.
“Production test will last approximately 10 days,” said the source.
The unit is able to yield 2,000 tonnes/day of bitumen.
The company plans to produce only a small volume at the initial stage, and commercial production will depend on market needs, according to the source.
