SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Daqing Refining & Chemicals shut its 300,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Heilongjiang province on Wednesday because of a technical issue, a company source said.

No restart date was set for the plant, the source said.

The shutdown is expected to further tighten PP supply in the Chinese market, according to local distributors.

Daqing Refining & Chemicals is a subsidiary of state-owned oil giant PetroChina
