HOUSTON (ICIS)--US chemical producer Williams has shut down its Geismar cracker in Louisiana for 7-8 days, sources said on Thursday.
Sources could not confirm if the outage was planned or unplanned.
The company previously announced a planned turnaround for May for 29 days in order to expand the facility’s capacity by 272,000 tonnes/year.
Attempts to reach Williams for comment were unsuccessful. No filings were available regarding the shutdown, according to a government agency.
The company currently has 612,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity at the cracker.
