South Korea’s S-Oil on track to shut No 2 aromatics unit on 16 April

SEOUL (ICIS)--South Korean aromatics maker S-Oil is on track to shut its No 2 aromatics unit in Onsan on 16 April for a month-long turnaround, a company source said on Friday. 

“The facility will be restarted on 20 May,” he said.

The No 2 aromatics facility, which comprises a reformer, toluene disproportionation (TDP) unit and a paraxylene (PX) unit, can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 1m tonnes/year of PX, the source said.

At the same site, S-Oil has its No 1 aromatics facility which also has a reformer, TDP unit and a PX unit.

The No 1 and No 2 aromatics plants are operating at 100% capacity at the meantime.
