LONDON (ICIS)--European acrylic acid (AA) April contract prices fell by €20/tonne ($26/tonne) from the previous month, on lower feedstock propylene costs in a balanced market, sources said on Wednesday.
March AA contracts are at €1,850-1,870/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).
Demand is steady and there are no problems in obtaining material, buying and selling sources said.
The upstream April propylene contract price decreased by €50/tonne, and exerted downward price pressure on the AA sector.
Spot prices are at €1,520-1,570/tonne FD NWE, €30/tonne higher on the low end, compared with March values.
AA and its esters are used in the manufacture of various plastics, coatings, adhesives and elastomers, as well as floor polishes and paints.
