SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s soap noodles prices have been stable since late March on the back of subdued discussions, sources said.

On 19 April, prices of standard 80/20 blend soap noodles containing 78% total fatty matter (TFM) were at yuan (CNY) 6,100-6,400/tonne ($987-1,036/tonne) EXW (ex-works), flat since 29 March, according to ICIS.

Producers kept their offers stable at around CNY6,400/tonne EXW, against buying ideas largely at CNY6,100/tonne EXW.

Discussions were subdued as end-users were using up inventories purchased earlier in the first quarter, sources said.

Also, some China-based end-users are price-sensitive and may turn to cheaper blends of soap noodles, resulting in weak buying interest for the standard 80/20 blend soap noodles, they added.

Soap noodles, which are made from vegetable or animal fat, are used to manufacture soap bars in the beauty and pharmaceutical industry.
