SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Germany specialty chemicals company LANXESS has inaugurated the new headquarters of its Keltan Elastomers business unit in Sittard-Geleen in the Netherlands, a news release from the company said on Thursday.
With immediate effect, the company will be managing its global business for ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) high-performance rubber, marketed under the brand name Keltan, from the buildings in the site, according to the news release.
LANXESS is bringing together major portions of the management, administration, production and R&D for its worldwide EPDM business under one roof at the Dutch site.
LANXESS is investing €12m ($16m) in the Dutch site to convert 50% of its EPDM production capacity to the innovative Keltan Advanced Catalyst Elastomers (ACE) technology, which can reduce energy required for the production process.
The expansion is proceeding on schedule and is expected to be completed by the middle of the year, the company said.
The company did not disclose the actual production capacity of EPDM at the Dutch site.
The Keltan Elastomers business unit belongs to the LANXESS Performance Polymers segment, which achieved total sales of €5.2bn in fiscal 2012.
