HOUSTON (ICIS)--Southern Chemical Corp (SCC) raised its May methanol contract to 165 cents/gal on Thursday, confirming expectations that a big increase was coming because of recent supply problems in Trinidad.
SCC posted 153 cents/gal for April. Its May contract marks the highest monthly posting for the company in five years, since the company issued 190 cents gal in March 2008.
Methanex and Southern Chemical Corp (SCC) typically set the US contract range with their postings. Methanex has not issued its May number yet.
