HOUSTON (ICIS)--CF Industries announced on Tuesday it has completed the acquisition of the remaining interests of Canadian Fertilizers Limited (CFL).
US-based CF said the deal is worth approximately C$910m ($901m) and will give the fertilizer giant the final balance of ownership that it did not currently hold on the Canadian company.
CFL owns and operates the largest nitrogen fertilizer complex in Canada, which is located at Medicine Hat, Alberta.
CF officials said the addition to the company will increase its annual marketable nitrogen volume by approximately 425,000 short tons (386,000 tonnes) of ammonia and 275,000 short tons of urea. The current complex has two ammonia plants with a full capacity rate of 1.25m tons as well as a urea facility that has a capacity of 810,000 tons.
