HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene dichloride (EDC) exports in March rose by 42% over the same month a year earlier, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data made available on Monday.
US producers shipped 79,229 tonnes of EDC in March, compared with 55,780 tonnes in March 2012, the ITC said.
March’s figure was also a huge 143% higher than the 32,548 tonnes shipped abroad by US producers in February.
China was the top destination for US EDC in March at 29,166 tonnes. It was followed by Japan (21,566 tonnes), Korea (18,726 tonnes) and Egypt (5,174 tonnes).
Major US PVC producers include Axiall, Occidental Chemical, Dow Chemical and Westlake.
