UpdateEG US exports plummet more than 56% year on year in March - ITC

NEW YORK (ICIS)--March US exports for ethylene glycol (EG) dropped more than 56% year on year, according to trade data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

EG US exports fell by 31,593 tonnes, to 24,528 tonnes in March 2013 from 56,122 tonnes in March 2012.

On a month-on-month basis, exports declined about 23%, falling 7,332 tonnes from 31,860 tonnes in February.

EG March US imports also fell year on year, reflecting a 3% drop to 70,431 tonnes in March 2013 from 72,675 tonnes in March 2012.

Month-on-month imports fell nearly 9% from 76,995 tonnes in February, according to ITC.

Major EG producers in the US include BASF, Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical, Formosa Plastics, Huntsman, Indorama Ventures, LyondellBasell, and Shell Chemical.
